Eating To Live: Jonathan Gold

On the Media interviews Jonathan Gold, food critic for the L.A. Weekly who won the Pulitzer Prize for Criticism earlier in the week. Listen to this and you won’t know what to do first, write or nosh. Do both.

Here’s the OTM blurb: “LA Weekly’s Jonathan Gold this week became the first food critic to win a Pulitzer Prize. While his most memorable meal was in France, he says he can more often be found haunting the taco stands of East Los Angeles.”

Here are two great quotes attesting to the Pulitzer committee’s probity:

“A great taco is something that is made and is eaten in one continuous motion. Taco should be a verb.”

“Eating is the only biological function that you can write about without censors getting excited. There’s something nice about that, almost subversive.”
