Ash Wednesday: Don’t Give Up NOLA for Lent

News Orleans needs our attention after the party, too. I’m still working my way through some thoughtful media coverage in the run up to Mardi Gras.

Harry Shearer’s LeShow [021807] featured a two-part interview about Post-Katrina New Orleans with Times-Picayune columnist Lolis Eric Elie. You can download streams of Part I and Part II .

Elie published an op-ed in the 021107 Washington Post: Unmasking Our Pain in New Orleans.

Open Source [021907] devoted a show to Katrina and the Insurance Tsunami. Heavy hitters like Lloyds of London and Swiss Re are pulling out of the coastal real estate re-insurance biz. After Katrina, they got religion about global warming. Is it actuarial hard-heartedness or prphetic market timing?
