One of the funniest bits on LeShow veils the transparency of Vice Presidential leadership in the guise of hard-boiled Hollywood detective talk ala James Ellroy’s L.A. Confidential. Satirist Harry Shearer voices the Veep in sinister overtones echoing from the bottom of a bomb shelter (that “secure undisclosed location”), and the hack-zine-writer metaphors stretch tawdry out into ludicrous.

The January 28 edition of Dick Cheney Confidential recaps an eventful week when the Veep was assailed by both John McCain (who said W. listens too much to D.C.) and Wolf Blitzer (who asked D.C. a family-unfriendly question about his daughter). Those knee-jerk liberals better watch out or their kneecaps might get the VP ball-peen hammer treatment! You really should listen to the whole bit (this launches a RealPlayer stream from KCRW). JOHN McCAIN to D.C.: “Maybe you should make room in your regimen of medications for a small dose of political realism. You’re so radioactive right about now I wouldn’t be surprised if the Iranians tried to weaponize you.”

D.C. to WOLF BLITZER: “One thing our friend Mr. Blitzer can count on, next time I have a hunting accident, he’s not going to get the exclusive interview on it.”
